About Ryan

Rigsbee Engineering was founded by Ryan Rigsbee. Ryan has almost 15 years of experience in fire protection and structural engineering, with expertise in code consulting, performance-based design, forensics and litigation support, and industrial applications with an emphasis on hazardous materials and processes. During his career, he has been involved in a number of large-scale projects including industrial and high-rise buildings, large atrium spaces, extraction and processing plants; and medical, education, and transportation facilities. An experienced expert witness, Ryan has been retained on numerous cases involving fire losses and structural deficiencies.

 

Prior to Rigsbee Engineering, Ryan developed fire and life safety solutions for industry leaders, including Rolf Jensen & Associates, Siemens, and Arup. He is a professional engineer (PE) in civil engineering and fire protection engineering, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and has attained a NICET III in fire alarm systems.

 

An active speaker and contributing member, Ryan is involved in several industry groups, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). He was the President of the Southern California Chapter of SFPE from 2014 - 2016, and is currently on the Subcommittee for Handbook Development of the Standing Committee on Research, Tools & Methods. He also has previously served on the SoCal SFPE Golf Committee and Scholarship Committee.

 

Ryan holds a Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State University, Chico. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his wife and two children hiking and snowboarding.
